Oatlands Family Practice aims to provide a comprehensive health service for the local community. Where a problem goes beyond the expertise of those at the pracice you will be referred to the most appropriate service.

Because we are part of the community we have access to a wide range of community services that could help.

Prevention is better than cure

We believe that the prevention is the best form of medicine. We try to incorporate aspects of prevention into every consultation. As a result, this practice prescribes only medication that is essential for the presenting problem.

We also recognize that not all illnesses have a physical cause. Sometimes a comforting ear is as important as a pill, so we take the time to listen to you.

Parking

There is parking within the surgery grounds and the local shopping centre. The surgery has ramps and is fully wheelchair accesible

After hours service

Our practice is open until 6pm every weeknight, and for three hours every Saturday. Outside of these times we have arranged for an emergency home visiting service to be available at any time. Just call our usual number and you'll hear a recorded message. You can leave a message for Dr. La Hood to call you back or contact the emergency service on 93993344.

Fees

All consultations are bulk billed, but you must bring your Medicare card with you. If your consultation is related to Workers Compensation or Third Party Insurance, please tell us and we'll bill the third party directly.

After hours a home visit by Dr. La Hood costs $90.00 of which 2/3rds is rebatable from medicare.

Staff

Louise, Margaret and Pat are at the 'front desk'. They are willing to answer your concerns. The practice is usually very busy, so please be patient and they will get to your questions.
